Unveiling a Unique Steam Demo: Controlling a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and enthusiasts have found numerous interesting creations from small studios. But, one is particularly notable for its unconventional concept. Named Unko Technica, this classic-feel jumping adventure includes a protagonist that is actually a dung striving to make its way to a toilet. For those curious, "Unko" means "poop."

How you interact is straightforward: press a single jump button. In one hundred fifty levels, you'll face mini-bosses and visit a store to purchase skins for your fecal avatar.

Plan your actions carefully, since one mistake forces starting over. Leap using floating orbs to hurl yourself higher, traverse disappearing platforms, and touch buttons to reveal new areas. Collect currency and use them on more difficult levels as the action intensifies.

Visually, the demo shows off eye-catching environments and a killer music score. Its minimalist visual style featuring shifting geometric shapes may remind fans of classic titles like Earthbound.

Even though hard to recall other games where you play as a piece of feces, video games often incorporated scatological themes. For example, in Death Stranding, players create throwables from character droppings. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize dung as plant food. Naturally, such content appears extensively in Obsidian's adventure The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its humorous idea, Unko Technica has already received impressive accolades, including winning at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. A playable preview is accessible now on Steam, with the complete version planned to launch on computers in the fall.
