Patriots Equal Best Winning Streak From Tom Brady Years with Triumph Over New York Jets
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson has scored five touchdowns this season
New England equaled their best victory streak since the Brady era as they beat AFC East rivals the Jets 27-14 in the NFL
First-year standout Henderson was the standout with three touchdowns as the New England squad claimed an eight-game winning streak for the first time since iconic QB Brady's final season with the franchise in 2019
Signal-caller Maye threw for 281 passing yards and a TD, completing 25 passes from 34 throws
The triumph increases the Patriots advantage at the top of the AFC East as they improved to nine wins and two defeats, with the Jets at the foot after falling to two wins and eight losses
The Jets had scored first at their home field with quarterback Fields rushing for a short rushing score to conclude the New York's first possession
But the home team fought back in the second quarter as Henderson scored two short rushing scores before the ball carrier caught a pass from Drake Maye at the back of the endzone halfway into the third quarter to make it 21 to 7
"It was a crucial moment for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep getting these reps," Maye commented on the rookie. "He wants to be great."
Justin Fields connected with John Metchie in the latter part of the third period to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Andy Borregales converted a two kicks in the final period as the Patriots closed out the triumph
