Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located many other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state initial examinations suggest the liquid was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; authorities are presently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the incident," they added.
Local authorities stated they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the community for information.
A senior representative commented the incident left him speechless and had to be solved quickly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a assailant targeting residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
